Purpose

Protocols Online provides our scientific audience authoritative and up-to-date methods for scientific research across the life sciences. We features reports of original protocols from all disciplines within science and medicine.

Development

Protocols, reviews, and cutting edges areas of technology research covered in Protocols Online are contributed by an editorial staff of M.S. and Ph.D. scientists. They work together to review and edit the content to ensure for clarity and consistency of style and presentation. Previously published material is reviewed periodically and revised as needed to keep all the protocols up-to-date.

Protocols Online applies the Creative Commons Attribution License 3.0 (CCAL) to all works we publish. Under the CCAL, authors retain ownership of the copyright for their article, but authors allow anyone to download, distribute, and/or copy articles appearing in Protocols Online, so long as the original authors and source are cited and the article is used for non-commercial purposes (see the human readable and full legal versions). We distinguish ourselves from commercial services by providing our protocols to the scientific community under the CCAL. No permission is required from the authors or the publishers.


In most cases, appropriate attribution can be provided by simply citing the source of the original article. If the item you plan to reuse is not part of a published article (e.g., a featured image), then please indicate the originator of the work, and the volume, issue, and date of the journal in which the item appeared. For any redistribution of a work, you must also make clear the license terms under which the work was published. The CCAL was developed to facilitate open access to, and free use of, original works of all types. Applying this standard license to your own work will ensure your right to make your work freely and openly available.

Certain elements of Protocols Online, including the name and likeness of this site, theme design, graphic elements, and multimedia elements are subject to US and international copyright laws, and may not be used, remixed or redistributed.

Business Model

To provide open access, Protocols Online uses a business model in which our expenses are defrayed in part through commercial advertisements.
